It has been an obsession of mine since the age of 13 to learn the Japanese language. I've picked up bits and pieces here and there through exposure to it, but for the most part, I'm still pretty stupid when it comes down to it. I suppose you're wondering where this is going, right? We'll get there.
I actually have a few books about the basics of linguistics, as well as two different 'teach yourself' workbooks. I'm seriously considering delving into these and learning more of the language.
What I want to know is if any of the (partial or fully) Japanese speaking people on my list, here, would be willing to help me out if I get stuck on any problems or correct me if I say something in my journal that is a mistake?
Which leads to a warning to the non-japanese speaking: I may be practicing in my journal sometimes, just so you know.

I also need to learn more Japanese. Since I'm not taking classes at the U this semester, I still want to keep up. o___o

And you're lucky. The uni I was at wasn't offering Japanese because they didn't have a professor for it. Maybe my new school might have it, though. I'll have to see, but I doubt it.

We're very lucky here -- we're one of the only Universities that offers Japanese as a major at all in the Northwest. o_o We've got ... 3 or 4 japanese professors at all times, with at least one visiting professor around for fun. ^^
AND OUR UNIVERSITY HAS A 97% ACCEPTANCE RATE. O_O
