I know... I saw the Ayu pic this morning and kind of did a double take. Like "I recognize that pose..." than it hit me and I've been all "o.o" ever since.
He died in 1998. here (http://tinpan.fortunecity.com/bigband/23/X-Page/Page/hidedeath.htm) <~ quick google search just to give you an idea of it. He was a great guy, did some amazing music. I think you'd like it. Download "Electric Cucmber" by him, if you ever get a chance.

These are actual pics of both artists. It's not uncommon to 'steal' a pose or look from an artist you admire in Japanese culture. (This can be seen between anime/manga and music stars a lot, for instance.) Just... this one rather scared me when I saw it. Though it would make sense that Ayu might want to do something in tribute to hide. (Assuming her pic is newer... could be hide making fun of Ayu, too.)
hide is another Japanese musician who was probably jsut as big if not bigger than Ayu when he was alive. (He died a few years ago, suicide in his apartment.) I believe the Ayu pics is newer, and thus an imitation of hide in honour of his memory.
I think Ayu copied hide's pose (as a tribute or whatever)... that makes the most sense to me. Especially since the hide pic was probably taken before Ayu was even on the music scene...
Yeah. I agree to that...but look at it. With the exception of Ayu's breasts, even the creases in the shirt are the same. They really went out of the way to do that.
The angle of her head is also wrong, as is her belt buckle and nails... but yeah, they definitely put a lot of effort in that. (Ignore my anal-ness... >.>)
