If I were... meme )

Me? Bored? Nevah! XP

*small yawn* Dude. I've been around all day, just haven't bothered to update. Why? I was playing Baldur's Gate (yes, the original) for most of the day. So.

Mmn... D&D style games. *cough* >.> erm... :D

Yeah. I still don't really have anything interesting to say. Just some image-type stuff I need to work on like icons and submission for Hyde fanbook. Yes.

Umn. >.> someone ask me some questions or something so this post isn't a complete waste of time.

I'm taking a moment to answer one of the most frequent questions I get (oddly enough):

What is an asrai?
"There are two tales almost identical from Cheshire and Shropshire. In both a fisherman dredges up an asrai and puts it in the bottom of his boat. It seems to plead to be set free, but its language is incomprehensible. In the Cheshire tale he bound it, and the touch of its cold, wet hands burned him so that he was marked for life. In both stories he covered the asrai with wet weeds. It lay moaning in the bottom of the boat, but its moans grew fainter, and by the time he reached the shore it had melted away and left only a little water in the bottom of the boat."

(from Katherine Briggs A Dictionary of Fairies)

I've always been interested by these creatures. Back in high school, I had started writing a novel and adopted these creatures and their culture (which I had to make up! :D) as the main species within it. I have so many notes and such for it. I easily could write that novel... except the plot died in my mind. Perhaps, someday, my world of the asrai will come to light. But for now... it's a binder full of notes on a shelf in my closet.
