gnutmeg: (blue sky)
I am no one. But I have changed the world. How, you ask? It's quite simple.

I smiled to someone who was having a bad day. I gave a pen to someone who forgot theirs. I gave my opinion when someone asked it, or even when nobody wanted it. I stood for what I truly believed in but learned to bend on the lesser things. I picked up the trash I saw on the ground as I walked and threw it away. I recycled my drink container instead of tossing it in the garbage. I stopped to pet a dog. I thanked my bus driver. I helped a classmate with homework. I reminded someone of something they had to do. I made a new friend. I made an enemy. I introduced someone to a band they really enjoyed. I congratulated someone on a job well done. I waved to someone I knew on the street. I made someone laugh. I played peek-a-boo with a baby. I gave an elderly woman my seat on the bus. I held the door for someone else. I told a lie to help a friend. I told the truth to someone who needed to hear it. I listened to someone who had a story to tell. I turned the other cheek. I did my best. I loved and let myself be loved. I bought a CD. I babysat for a family member or friend. I went to the library. I fed the birds at the park. I laughed at a joke. I was sympathetic. I losta friend. I gained wisdom. I grew up. I volunteered. I got a job. I went to school. I spoke kindly to a stranger. I was true to myself.

Sometimes, in life, it's the small things that can cause the most changes. Just because they aren't always recognized doesn't mean they don't have an effect on someone else. Are you no one? No one can change the world around them, one piece at a time.
