gnutmeg: (kitchen sink)
Something kinda interesting we noticed at work. You know that new documentary on the Dixie Chicks, Shut Up and Sing? For some (completely unknown) reason our store is carrying both the U.S. and Canadian versions of the movie.

The cover of the U.S. one looks like this. But the Canadian one looks like that. (Actually, it's a partial lie. Bush isn't actually on the cover for either. Just the poster.)

But look how much more edited the U.S. one is. What's wrong with seeing skin? They're not actually showing anything. And why did they edit the front one's hand to look like her wrist is broken so that it could rest on her own knee instead of her sister's thigh? Other changes on the cases that you can't see as well on these poster versions include that they totally lightened/touched-up their skin and actually stretched the image somewhat on the U.S. one. They also edited all the windows to be uniform colour (whereas you can see the clouds in the CDN version) and edited out the flag in front of the building (about where Bush's arm is) but left it in for the CDN vers.

Freedom of expression? Discuss.

Also, Jeremy is too cute, sometimes.
