gnutmeg: (asleep)
It's been the best birthday I've had in years. (Mind, it wasn't hard to beat the last few...) I've had fun with good friends, and got everything I really wanted... well except one little thing, but I didn't really think he'd break his silence just for this anyway.

More about everything tomorrow when I'm less asleep and more sober. I'll finally get back to comments, too. Since I actually have some time.
gnutmeg: (hopeful)
So my birthday started like most other days - I was up early, got ready for work and headed off there. It was an ok day of work. Did a bunch of receiving. Got the FedEx guy that always flirts with me to wish me a happy birthday. Laughed (quietly) at people who pushed the wrong side of the door as they tried to leave. Got hit on by a creepy old guy. (It happens at least once a day. Unavoidable.) We had a fun music selection, too: David Bowie (Hunky Dory), Joni Mitchell (Blue), Nylons (best of), Taflemusik (Baroque... something...), and Putumayo's 'World Party'.

The girls from work got me a cake. So just as the shifts were changing they sang for me, and I cut it and everyone had some. :)

Got home from work, Liz was at my house and Rob (the sister's bf) went out to supper w/ my family and guests to my favourite chinese food place. Unfortunately, it was super slow because for some unknown reason they only had one cook working. And! They were out of my favourite dish. :( But they did give us some General Tao's chicken instead (my second favourite, and without asking us!) So we were there like 3 hours, but that was ok. Our waiter was told it was my birthday and they asked him to guess my age... he said I looked not a day over 17... haha!

Right after that, Liz and I headed out to Oz Cafe to meet some of my 'girls night' girls. So we all hung out there. They other 4 had supper there. I had 2 martinis and banana rum cheesecake. :D One martini and the cheesecake were free! I love Oz for that reason. Also? Awesome martinis. I had a "Pretty in Pink" which was like raspberry flavoured, and a "Flying Monkey" which had tequila in it. I'm not a big fan of drinking, but I love fun drinks when I do.

Got home safe and sound (Liz was driving, no worries.) Had a good night's sleep. (Alcohol conks me right out.) Woke up to play with my new DS.

For those interested, the present count... )

So, yeah. Maybe it doesn't sound super great to everyone, but I really liked it. And now I'm 24. My mom was pregnant with her second child when she turned 24. I'm working on my second trip to Europe. Just as considerable a feat, right?
