gnutmeg: (wheat kernels)
So while we were at the theatre to see Across the Universe yesterday (quite good, by the way), I noticed a lot of security guards around, and then my sister's boyfriend pointed out that Prime Minister Stephen Harper was in the theatre with his kids. He was sitting at a table like 2 metres from us. Hah! How's that for you?

Then again, living in Ottawa is like living in Hollywood: you just get used to seeing people like that.

I think the funniest part of it, though, is that neither my sister, my mother, or myself even recognized him! We noticed the security but not him. (Then again, my dad didn't even see the security guard standing next to him until we pointed him out.)

We have guys at the house today to fix the roof where the upstairs bathroom leaked through, and they are parked in front of the garage, so I'm stuck in the house today whether I want to be or not.

[livejournal.com profile] sleepy_sheep is helping me fight this boredom:

Comment on this post. I will choose seven interests from your profile and you will explain what they mean and why you are interested in them. Post this along with your answers in your own journal so that others can play along.

1. architecture - buildings. I love to look at buildings and how they are built and designed and decorated. I especially dig ancient buildings. Half of the places I want to travel to is just so I can see the cool buildings.
2. clowns - I actually collect clown dolls. I had well over 20, last time I counted. (They're just itty bitty dolls.) I also generally love clown/circus themed stuff as an artistic statement.
3. Haydn - composer who wrote the Planets Suite. Someday, if I get married, I will play the chorale from Jupiter at the wedding. <EDIT>Oops. My bad. (Shouldn't do these while paying attention to 4 other things at once. This is a classical composer who influenced others, such as Beethoven. If I am now recalling musiclore correctly, he wrote a lot of operas, but most of them were lost in a fire.</EDIT>
4. mythology - a.k.a. the folktales of the ancients. I like knowing a little about all of them: Roman, Greek, Mespotamian, Aztec, Incan, Mayan, Japanese, Celtic, whatever. If someone sends me basically any sort of story from anywhere that has to do with ancient gods/beings I'm very interested.
5. Ruby - [livejournal.com profile] unfortunatelyme, who is fabulous. But I don't talk to her much anymore. :( I miss her.
6. vanity - I often call it my favourite deadly sin, even though it isn't actually one of the seven. (It falls under pride.) I've done a lot of sketches and prose work that often start with this as the working title until it shows me what its real title should be.
7. YUKI - Japanese singer that is too cute for her own good. Formerly lead singer for Judy and Mary. Her new album comes out this week, incidently.
