gnutmeg: (light)
oh naive gallantry, oh valiant knave
you do but slay me with your tongue
sharper than the sword at your side

what am I to be so hunted? a beast?
I have not yet shown you my hunger
can it already be that I seem evil?

you are blind regardless of the moon
if I shone as the sun, you'd see not
except those illusions you so desire

so would you kill a noble unicorn
in pursuit of your deadly dragon
I am no venomous worm, let me be
gnutmeg: (dark)
now with more leprosy
shedding
pieces of myself across the world
leaving behind what I was
and who I will be as I make my way

it sits on my tongue
and stirs itself to laugh
sweetness
like a metric tonne of sugar
melting all at once

breaking fingers
for fun and profit
I remake the thing that I was
shaking
into who I am

and you just sit there
like a title
as this book with no pages
gathers a new jacket
waiting
gnutmeg: (dark)
I am in love with you, moon
your round face and silver
my heart trembles softly
but I force my lips not to
whenever you are near me

I would touch your brightness
if I could manage to reach
if I didn't fear to break it
would it shatter in my hands?
I'm certainly no fragile maid

I beg you, my most dear moon
shine on me and make me light
I'm the needful dark night sky
empty if you aren't within me
though vainly dressed in stars

I glitter deeply before you
in my precious starry raiment
utterly naked beneath my dress
it hides my vulnerability away
but I fear you'll see through

I stumble beneath my vanity
this pride keeps me from you
but it could also be my swing
oh moon, don't judge me weak
for I'm brave enough to jump

so amused

Everyone needs to watch this. Because it is hilarious.

....yeah, I owe you two days' poetry. I'll try to get to that.
