So, lucky us, our hotel has interwebs!

I have now spent two nights in El Salvador and am starting my second full day here. I arrived from the airport tired and kind of sick on tuesday afternoon, and couldn't find Nori anywhere! I got lots of people asking me if I wanted a taxi, and a number trying to sell me some sort of lotto tickets before Nori finally showed, about 45 min late, with her friend Rachel. I guess they'd just had a press conference. Once we were reunited (slash I was rescued) we went to store my stuff at Rachel's place as we went for some food and then to find me a hostel for the night. Then we went to Nori's work and napped in the garden for a while. Then we had a traditional food called pupassas (?sp - Nori will have to correct me later) and we went out drinking for st. patty's day at the only irish pub in town. lol

I must say that being alone in the hostel at brekky was a tad scary. No one spoke English and I have almost zero spanish. But I did manage to get fed (brekky was included with the price of my room) I had the traditional Salvadoran breakfast - scrambled eggs, refried beans, tortillas (though they actually gave me buns), melon, fruit juice and coffee. Very good, but it was way too much food for me.

Most of the rest of yesterday was spent on buses coming here to La Palma. This is a beautiful area sort of in the mountain-ish part of El Salvador. We'll be here one more night. We plan on going for a bit of a nature walk with a guide and checking out more of the stores around here today. (We did some of that last night, too, and had burritos at one of the local places.So. Fucking. Good.) I sort of bought myself a pretty embroidered shirt and a hammock yesterday. I blame Nori completely.

Best part of my trip so far? The food. Worst? The toilets. lol plumbing here is sort of weak, so you have to throw the t.p. into the garbage instead. Not so bad, but I'm also on my rag (of course) so that makes it feel more than a little awkward for me.

Oh, and not too many pictures yet. It's not always safe to take out your camera here...
