gnutmeg: (pinwheel)
Ok, I'm seriously not allowed to buy anything fun (aka books, magazines, CDs, DVDs) anymore since I'm out of shelf space.

This clutter drives me mad.
gnutmeg: (light)
"married" he asked
and a man frowned when I said "no"
rings for dead lovers
glimmering past
I'd bet you think me too young
how could I love a dead man?
I, too, have been dead
the cost is not so dear as you may think
turn over the grave and you'll find
a womb
with flowers strewn like blood
and so, though not wed
in love
gnutmeg: (slash)
turn up the radio
to drown the pounding of my skull
I want the world to melt away
into soft mutable colours
like lights behind my eyes
basing your life off the strength of a song?
it's just not right
there needs to be more
value between words
like the seeds of a kiwi fruit
black dots slung across the page
but there's nothing to say
that won't be a hindrance
so carve it on the stair
your little three-note symphony
composed entirely of lies
gnutmeg: (dark)
I've heard it said
the fastest way to a man's heart
is through his ribcage
you would know
do you remember the day I died?
you held me in your arms
and said
it'd be okay
how can you say that to a corpse?
gnutmeg: (dark)
I'm having tea with the enemy
it's just an every day thing
though the sea rushes between my lungs
I still haven't drowned
moonlike, you pull my tides
and it somehow keeps me whole
still, I fear the undercurrent
there's something in that
which tastes like drowning
heavy, salty, sincere

I believe the world is ending
with every single breath
but, see, the problem with the thing
is it keeps on starting again
and then I lose track
truth, lie, faith, hope, despair
which of these is my cup?
I put the poison in my tea
please don't take it
each saucer has its spoon

tea, tea, so much water!
is this where the ocean was born?
let it in, let it in, let it in
who can say where that sky did go
oh moon, I may defy you
you mean your currents to hold me
but I am not so buoyant
and my heart's abandoned ship
it's funny
how everything returns to drowning
