(no subject)

Are there any artists who are, for you, a comfort? Like slipping into that one favourite sweater or hugging your favourite toy... something like that?

For me it's David Bowie. And has been for a very long time. When life is getting shaky and rough I always know I can put on some Bowie and let my mind escape into that old familiar comfort.

So who's yours?

Jars of Clay. Their music stays relevant and fresh for me, no matter how many times I listen to it. I listen to it and escape for a bit. They're special, in a way, I only listen to them sporadically throughout the year.

You will mock me endlessly, but Lionel Ritchie always makes me feel better.

Joan Baez :D

Rob Thomas/Matchbox 20 is my big one. BUT if I can, I prefer to play some Yoshiki Eternal Melody on the piano, when in need of lots of comfort.

David Bowie is my backup though.

When I need to fall back on something older and get myself straight I often find myself listening to a mix of 90s alt and Japanese folk music. :P
Kiroro is a favorite.

Susumu Hirasawa. His atmospheric neo-music calms me down greatly. When I was in that horrible depression, I used to listen to his music in the dark so I could stop crying.
