the people make the trip
Last night, I chatted for an hour or so with one of my roommates. A nice girl from Australia who would be leaving today after having been travelling Europe for 3 months. We compared notes on the different places we've been. I told her about Canada and the US since she's never been. We discussed the cultural differences between our respective homes and England. That was nice.
Then today, I was sitting in the cafe part of my hostel (St. Christopher's Inn - Orient Espresso) trying to set up my new cell phone. A sweet british gentleman started up a conversation with me, then put the phone together for me. (Thank goodness, I was having a clueless moment.) After our chat, he had to go back to work, but he asked me if he could properly welcome me to England, so I said sure - which earned me a big hug and a peck on the cheek!
Have my train ticket to Bath purchased for tomorrow. Just dealing with getting myself a place to sleep. It's gonna be nice. :)
(Yes, almost proper food and almost proper sleep have done me a world of good.)
<EDIT> I probably should mention that I'm a little concerned about my diet, at present. There isn't really facilities to cook for myself right now, so it's either over-priced restaurant food, or picking up salads and stuff from groceries - which is what I did today. Stopped at a Mark's and Spencer's (we used to have those in Canada!) and got a nice bean/rice/veggie salad with garlic dressing. And then picked up some mixed fruit to have at supper - which I should do soonish. I've also picked myself up a banana-chocolate French-style pastrie to have with supper. I'll need to watch my iron and protein levels until I'm cooking for myself, though. I miss peanut butter. :( </EDIT>
