gnutmeg: (crown of thorns)
One of the things I've noticed about myself over the years is that I'm very much the type to chomp at the bit. If it were up to me, I'd be running off to catch my train right this second, though I don't need to go for almost half an hour. From the looks of it, there's going to be about 1.5-2 hours between when I arrive in Bath and when I can actually check in to my hotel. Which means I have to spend that much time wandering about with my luggage. Not so fun.

Things I'm really missing right now: skim milk, my CDs (I have some music, but not my full collection and it's really not the same), my proper net connection (I want to chat with people...)

Holiday Inn - Bath

I took the London underground today... all the way to Paddington station where I borded a train and went down to Bath. At the trains station I bought a map and spoke to the lady there who suggested I go to a housing agency and showed me on the map about where I would find them. She also showed me how to get to my hotel, if I were to walk. It wasn't far, but my luggage is too heavy to drag around all the time, so the 20 min walk to the hotel was out of the question. I got a taxi. £5 later, I was at my hotel.

I went to ask them about if I could store luggage or w/e but the room appeared to be ready, so I checked in right then and there. Walked into my room, let my stuff explode, and just crashed for a while. I plan to sleep the last of this jetlag off tonight and start flat-hunting in the morning.

I crave asparagus sautéed with almond slices. Perhaps I shall encourage myself to find a place faster by promising to make that for myself as soon as I get one. My victory meal, if you would.

I'm getting kinda sick of living off sandwiches, salads, and fruit. Ok, mostly just the sandwiches. Though I did have a lovely tomato, cucumber, avocado, and cheese one today. (It even came with crisps, fruit and a drink for only £3.50! That is the most food for the least money that I've gotten here yet.)

I did get a phone. I'm not sure if it's working properly, though. It came with £10 of credit when I got it, but it doesn't show up on the credit counter thingum. Mind, it could just be that it isn't activated for my phone, since I did buy the cheapest plan possible. It's actually cheaper for me to call overseas than here. Which is fine, since I only know Aleksy here. But I should call her one of these days.

Best thing about this hotel? Breakfast is included. Free food = a very good thing. Especially here.

I should call my mom sometime tonight. She called me first.

<EDIT> Haha. I forgot my computer was still set to home time. That's kinda nice. </EDIT>
