nutmeg's random post of random
Jan. 6th, 2008 04:13 pmCanola oil is always called "rapeseed oil" here. I never realized that canola is very much a North American term for rape products.
I'm going to Bristol tomorrow, for my NIN interview. Hopefully will go well, since I have the paperwork. Assuming I can find the place, that is. I've never been to Bristol before. It's not far, but I am rather notorious for my ability to get lost.
I am a mitten magnet. As some of you are aware, I adore mittens. Well, when I came to England I only brought one pair with me. Currently, I have 4. (5 if you count the fact that one of those 4 is actually a set of two mittens designed to overlay each other but can be worn separately.) Yes. (BTW, Laura, the new pair you sent me are soooo comfy. Also. I seemed to have thrown away the wrapping without getting your address off it so I still don't have your address and there is a parcel here waiting for it...)
I suspect I may have a mouse. I haven't seen the evidence of droppings yet, nor has food gone missing that I've noticed. However, my garbage bag seemed to develop holes in the bottom. Rather large ones. It could be that it tore somehow in the cupboard (I don't have a can) but I doubt it. I may have to purchase a proper can, after all. :[
Still have not figured this out. :[
Am completely obsessed with this song right now. No idea why. OK, I do know why. It's quirky and haunting and is very much something I can relate to right now in my life. Yes, there are icons of the video being made.
Broke down and bought myself some art supplies since I've been seriously lacking here. I couldn't bring much of mine. (I brought the artbook I use most often, a pencil, markers, and crayons.) So I got myself a sketchpad (different type of paper), some nice pencil crayons (since pencil crayons do not travel well at all), and a charcoal pencil. (Charcoal was much too messy to pack.) Now all I'm missing are my paints, pastels, brushes, and sculpting supplies... but I'll live with what I have.
My sister's birthday was last month, but I told her was going to try and find her something really nice here in England for it since I didn't buy anything before leaving. I'm still not sure what to get her, though. I just haven't seen the right thing, you know? I do have some gifts for some of you guys, though! As soon as I get myself to the post office...
