might have

So. I might have accidentally walked into HMV today between going to the bank and the grocery store. And I might have noticed that Kate Nash's Made of Bricks was on their 2 for £10 rack. So I might have picked it up. And you know how it is with those racks, so I might have picked up a Kate Bush album too. (Hounds of Love. No, I don't know when I started liking her, either.)

So I might be a rather happy girl because of those new CDs I might have. (God, collecting them is a hobby I miss so.)

I also might have picked up crumpets from the grocery. Haven't actually had one yet, so this is exciting!

And now... I might go have tea and biscuits. After that I might murder my 'R' key, which keeps popping off.

last night, I dreamt of human sacrifice
just to wake with blood on my lips
dare you tell me that's perfectly normal?
well, my friend, I'm watching you swallow

headphones on, enraptured by bleeding words
I hardly notice the way you penetrate me
you have eaten my will to survive
and left me to stew in the darkness of melody

slapped down on a wooden platter to rot
am I no longer the meal you had desired?
just because I will not be your pale shadow
or chew on the remains of your mind
gnutmeg: (light)
you said all your towers have windows
when mine do not
but then I wondered and became befuddled
soon enough
all the windows had towers
and I was left shallow in my hole

burn my effigy on the side of the hill
it will hurt more
(for I am a child of the plains)
do you build to try and reach heaven?
it strains my neck to see
I would much rather sit in the grass

your stones, one by one, reach for the open
is that why the window?
stone will not let you
touch the sky
might as well build a ship in the desert
when you want to swim the ocean

will you still go towering
through your windows
or is it that you fear most to fall
from the ground
and tumble
gravely down to seed with me
gnutmeg: (dark)
tempramental, detrimental, queen of all feasts
you set me on your table of fear and loathing
because my love was not enough for your worship
I cut out my heart and set it on your plate

with gnashing teeth you devoured all I gave you
your greedy lips never rouged but with blood
but your harlott eyes were blacker than bruises
and that false laughter hid my suffering from me

you, once-darling queen, were a voluptuous tart
sickeningly sweet with such a delicious poison
even to breathe your dessert perfume was rash
for it tasted like siren song and made me dinner
gnutmeg: (light)
silver stars shining
from your dark blue sky
my silken lord
bright and deadly
dark and proud
fierce and beautiful
your sword burns like glittering ice
reflecting your eyes

memories of making love
between two trees
kissing noble children with faces
carved from ivory
father of kings
and kings and kings
oh majestic
but you never saw

crowned by the ice that tried
to destroy
as did your brother's
apathetic greed
perspicacity
with valor and wisdom at your side
did you succeed
my lord

pride was your final destruction
mated to despair
still
no other could dare
as evil trembled before you in fear
and I in admiration
at the shining stars upon your dented shield
buried with you

April is National Poetry Month. To celebrate, I am posting one of my poems every day. You can play along too! Or, if you don't write, post a poem that you love. I would love to see my friendslist filled with poetry all through April.

Some of you may remember this. (And some of you were fortunate enough not to have been around for it.) Two years ago, and I've only finally been able to really purge myself of the last of that negativity recently. I wrote two poems on it, and now... I don't feel it anymore. Except when I read those. This is one of them.

I want to take a nice long bath and eat the sushi I bought for supper. But which to do first?! Is so hard to decide. :(

P.S. Totally needs to see this movie for three reasons 1- Li Bingbing 2- same legend Dragon Ball is based off of (shut up!) 3- did I mention Li Bingbing? She's playing a villain. A really really cool one.

<EDIT> For the record: sushi won. </EDIT>
