gnutmeg: (dark)
not every damsel in distress
deserves a knight in shining armour
and not every witch is wicked
so watch who you're defending
for you might just be surprised

the spider bites harder
when her venom is useless
and the flower may be your death
the world is much wilder
than you've ever imagined

not every beast lives in a cage
monsters are hidden
in pockets and closets
and beauty's a masquerade
a flood of moths eats it away

why then do we fight at all
my darling, surely it's all in jest?
when good and bad are tangled
indiscriminately together
so watch where you draw your sword

who is she, behind that mask
that eats the silver cakes
and what is he that sits to watch
leaving the future behind
it must all be some fancy game

name all before you for what you see
but be not shocked to find
that left becomes east
when right is the south
and all petty things are untrue
