On the other hand... you have different fingers.

Well, the gakuhai fandom has gone into uproar upon the release of Moon Child in the US. (and Canada? Someone fill me in there.) Personally, I'm finding it hard to get terribly excited on the whole prospect.

I have yet to see the infamous movie which has spawned so many of the fans within the fandom (Personally, I liked the couple before I even knew there was a Moon Child movie.) but I have serious doubts about it. From the reviews I've been hearing, it's not that good of a movie. The only people who seemed to really enjoy it were overly-hormonal 14-16 year olds. (Not that there's anything wrong with 14-16 year olds, but I hardly think they're a good judge for how good a movie is when their favourite (really hot) singer(s) are in it, right?)

I have no doubt that I will see the movie eventually. I mean, I'd like to, just to see what all the hullabaloo is about if nothing else. Hell, I'll probably even like it, seeing as I have a thing for campy B movies. However, if I see one more person join [livejournal.com profile] gacktxhyde and start their intro post with "I love Gackt and I'm only just getting into Hyde now because he was so hot in Moon Child Oh.Em.Gee.One.One." I do think heads are going to start rolling.

THERE'S MORE TO THE FANDOM THAN JUST ONE FUCKING MOVIE. GET OVER IT.

Thank you. nutmeg's going to go over there *points* and fume quietly, now.

<EDIT> Amazon.ca has it. That means it's in Canada. (For those who don't know, Amazon.ca is one of the worst places for getting anything. Usually, one just goes to Amazon.com, as they have a better selection. Why? I'll never know, but it's all good.) But... it's $30. Holy fuck.
However, it seems Blockbuster.ca and Chapters.ca do not have it. Hmmn. </EDIT>

When it all comes down to it, it's kind of like in some of the fandoms that have books and movies. The book fans will inevitibly always put down those who have only seen the movies. They feel that those people are 'surface fans' and make the fandom less because of stating things that are so bloody obvious and redundant and not trying to see more into it.

Ahhh, touché. You've got me there. I'm still quite a bit of a 'newb' to the fandom but I can't help but getting that sort of feeling ever so often.

As for the rest... *nods* I understand, and I know we've already been over this but... I guess I just like that movie too damn much. I'm no better than the rabid fangirls I look down on. :- /
