My apple-pecan pie turned out beautifully. I got smart and used a package of instant oatmeal mixed with a little butter to put crumblies on top of it. It's gorgeous and the crust is wonderful. (Lots of cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger in it.) Just has to cool a little. Serve it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a little caramel sauce dribbled over top, and you couldn't tell it from restaurant. ^_~

I love me, sometimes.

I just wish I could share it with you guys. It's superb. :) *is munching on a little tart she made from the extra stuff that didn't fit in the pie*

Kitchen skill are always something I've felt are important to know. After all, a day will come when I'll be required to eat only my own cooking like all the time.

Even my little brother, mr. I won't eat anything, liked it. He even had seconds. ^^; I win. Of course. The parents won't even try it with their atkins diet. Though my mom said it looked "surprisingly good" which I took to mean she expected me to mess it up, but anyway.

Geez your parents are critical. x_x

The Atkins diet is so overrrated. I will be morbidly amused when, in my forties, there is a huge spike in the rate of heart disease, clogged arteries, etc. A balanced, low-cal diet with a lot of WHOLE food (as opposed to highly processed, sodium-rich canned foods) and regular exercise that actually gets your heart rate up (i.e. something more strenuous than walking) would solve problems a lot faster than excessive amounts of calorie- and cholestrol-rich proteins but what do I know. Not like I don't lub my processed foods anyway.[/rant]
