I am disgusted by how many of the recipes that turn up on a search for "kid friendly" are like 90% sugar or fried. Ew!

Along those lines... what was your favourite meal as a kid? I'm redoing my camp menu for, like, the eigth time and have decided there are a few things on it I don't like. Lunch or dinner ideas are especially appreciated. Extra love if you suggest meals/recipes that are vegitarian and/or pork-free!

P.S. Feel free to still answer this

I've actually been to that site today. A lot of the recipes have little-to-no protein, and others... I really couldn't see kids eating. :\ The tofu stuff isn't bad, but I worry that it might be a tad expensive to feed as many people as I need to. That's my main problem with a lot of recipes, in general: having to find something that's likable and relatively cost effective.

I think some really good choices are meals that can be have meat or not -

Spaghetti + Meatballs separately
Taco stuff with refried beans & separate meat, cheese, etc.

Cute lunch ideas here:

I tend to look at vegan friendly sites which are more restrictive -
Macaroni & Cheese seems to be a proverbial favorite.

Yeah, with kids meals where they can choose separate pieces always seem smartest.

Tacos I think are absolutely awesome, since the protein can be with either meat or beans... and any recipe that uses ground beef I can substitute with TVP for the vegetarians. I just have to make sure everyone is getting enough protein. Orders from the boss ladies, and all.

Thank you for the link! Haven't seen that one, yet.

I loved cauliflower and cheese. The cheese sauce we always made reeeaally thick, and put a bit of mustard in it, to give it a nice bite.

I also loved stirfries and home made fried rice which wasn't actually fried. Cook up some rice normally, then throw it in a wok with peas, sweetcorn, onion, we would also just a little bit of ham, and voila fried rice (we never used oil in the wok, just a bit of soysauce and water to stop it from sticking).

Uhmm what else did I like ...

I ate anything XD;

If I ever get her to answer this, I'm sure Erica has a whole bunch of stuff you can try. We pretty much eat healthy.

Well...they do. I still need help with that. >_>
