April is National Poetry Month. To celebrate, I am posting one of my poems every day. You can play along too! Or, if you don't write, post a poem that you love. I would love to see my friendslist filled with poetry all through April.

So, the poem I'm posting today is an older work of mine... 7 or 8 years old, I think. Not my best, but an interesting place to start from. I'll be posting a mix of older and newer so you get an idea of my growth. And remember, you can see all my writing and crap on a regular basis at [livejournal.com profile] gnutmeg, if you really like it.

Beautiful

tears of blood
fall from the sky
and stain
my snow-bleached soul
I laugh
the colour is so vibrant
it livens my dreary world
silver sings past
the edges of my vision
his blood is water
cut deep and drink
his soul is fire
don't blow it out
his flesh is human
take a bite
his heart is pure
hide your evil in your eyes
his wings are soft
raven black
he is so foolish
and I am his fool
oh fool's fool
look away
food for the gods
beautiful

I especially like "silver sings past/the edges of my vision".

Thank you. I believe it was a reference to tears.

*____* wow, I can't believe that's from 8 years ago, it's so beautiful! I love the metaphors and the lines "I laugh/the colour is so vibrant" and "silver sings past/the edges of my vision." I can't wait to read more of your daily poem posts :D!

:) Hopefully you'll like what's to come, then. I'd like to think my style has matured and grown since then.
