Nov. 14th, 2007 03:47 pmSo since I've finished 4 books since I've been here (yeah, that's right, 4 books in 2 weeks) I decided to go to the library and get a membership today, since buying books will be tough while I'm here, since I will just have to bring them all home again. I got out a non-fiction book called Geisha about an American girl who spent some time as a geisha in Japan. It looks pretty good.
After the library I was starving. I have no idea why, but I felt like I hadn't eaten in a week! So I went to a chinese buffet in the same mall. I had 3 plates. 3! I usually only manage 1. I really was starving, I guess. I had a little bit of chicken for the first time since I've been here. I've mostly been eating vegetarian, with fish here or there, but I just had to make an exception for the first chinese food I've had in weeks. Chinese restaurants are quite rare here, compared to at home. Most of the eateries seem to be either pubs, coffee shops, or sandwich shops. (And often the coffee/sandwich shops are one and the same.)
And for those of you who have witnessed the horror/wonder that is my knee-high stripey socks... I got some new ones from a street vendor today! In much brighter colours than my current ones. I like wearing them under one of my long skirts in the chill weather.
Oh, and quite randomly, I've managed to stumble upon the Bath Guide house. They have even worse hours than the Ottawa one. (Only open two days a week for 2 hours each time!)
