oh, greed.
Mar. 16th, 2008 09:49 amA facebook application that pays its members?
What do you think? Is introducing corporate marketing into the already over-populated world of facebook applications a good idea? Will people's friends actually buy from these stores just because they've been "recommended" or will people simply add w/e products because they are hopeful to earn a buck?
Would you sign up? Would you pester your friends for a chance to make a little profit?
The Market Lodge application.
I'm not a big fan of facebook applications, I've never made that a secret. There are only a handful of them on my profile and most of those are ones my friends use most and keep poking me with. What I wonder, is this a one of a kind or a new breed of application? It doesn't make you add all your friends before letting you see something but it does play on the user's sense of greed.
I'm curious to watch it just to see how popular it gets. It's just a new format of viral marketing, really. It has the potential to be really successful if they get the right product mix, and it also has the potential to crash and burn horribly.
You also have to wonder: is this why people join facebook? Is it about the silly little games and shops and crap or do those take away from the real purpose of the site? You tell me.
