Irish craic!
May. 15th, 2008 03:53 pmIreland, Ireland. Where do I start? How about arrival? I got stuck in customs for over an hour, because they only had one gent working the non-EU desk. Eventually, like an hour later, they added 3 more. (*sigh!*)
My hostel in Dublin was rather nice. After checking in, I went off exploring. That was kind of fun. I saw a lot of neat buildings and statues but didn't really know what most of it was.
So, morning comes and I wander toward where I'm supposed to meet my tour group. Well. I tried to. I kind of got lost and had to ask a taxi driver for directions. But! In the end I found them and was even sort of on time. Rock!
While waiting for it to be time to go, I bumped into the girl who'd been standing in line with me at customs, and apparently she was on the same tour as me. Haha! What are the odds, eh? She was a sweet girl from South Africa. (Why are all the South Africans I meet so super sweet? I'm going to have to go there one of these days.)
And then we headed off. Our tour actually ended up having a lot of Canadians on it, so that was kind of nice for me. There were 2 girls from Ottawa (plus me), 2 from B.C., and a group of 5 from Toronto.
Umn, for more about the tour itself, just check out my facebook galleries, since it has stories to go with pictures: gallery 1, gallery 2.
Yes, I had my pint of Guinness in Ireland. And I loved all the history stuff, though it was really sad a lot of the time. (I'd have studied history if not for the memorizing dates part. Ick! I just like the story part of it.)
Well, there are a lot more things I could say. But I don't think they've really settled in my head yet. I may have to come back and post more later.
