For those who said they'd be interested in a more intellectual/discussion based community for Jpop/rock: [livejournal.com profile] coffeetabletalk. I'm still working on the finishing touches, but yeah, friendslist gets an advanced warning to come join, if you wish. And yes, everyone is required to post the discussion within a week. Even I will. No exceptions.

I'm dling xxx-mas Jpop. :D I really wish I had more money to buy albums and stuff, though. However, I did buy a few movies on VCD today! And~ band score! *halo*

Thinking about things for my website again. Also thinking I should stop spending money and save up for my very own domain. (Not that I don't love belonging to you, John, love, but I'm going to need it for my business eventually, anyway. Plus then I won't feel guilty about how much space I use. I know I have a lot with you, but still >.>)

Intellectual discussion about Jmusic? Sounds interesting--
I hope there will be enough members to keep it going. o__o
I am kind of tired of people overlooking much more important things like the meaning behind the music and such. -__-

As am I, and many I've talked to, thus why I made it. Let's see if anyone actually joins like they claimed they would...

The reason I hope many people will join is so that we can have varied discussions with people actually knowing what to say. Usually, one tends to know more about their favorite bands and artists than about ones they have not heard much music by.
But I think it could be a very good forum for ideas and such: people could post lyrics or upload music and then ask for opinions or reactions after sharing their own views. Thus, if you were intrigued by a song's lyrics, it would be incentive to check that artist out.

And I think looking at symbolism would be interesting as well. It gets upsetting sometimes when people do not pay enough attention and cannot fully appreciate the work~ Because, surprise surprise, the deeper meaning is one of the things I greatly like about music.

*nod* I'm planning for my "admission entry" to be about the symbolism in Hyde's Secret Letters (song, not PV) and how it relates to Anne Frank, who the song was supposedly written for.

I hope very much that we do get the members there and can have discussions. There are a lot of bands that I listen to and would love to find out more about, and bands I know lots about and could share on, and many many thoughts in my mind on music and trends and influences which haven't really had a proper forum to come out in. So. Yes. I'll be advertising it big time in a few days. Let's hope for the best.

Ok, newbie question:

What's a PV?

PV = "promotional video" aka music video.

Do a comparison on Tetsu's solo style versus the Laruku songs he's written? :D I have all sorts of ideas for these sorts of things...

Hehe, I bet you only said that because you want to see if it's possible for Tali to talk about Tetsu without going into squealy fangirl mode XD

I will think about that idea though ... got any more? *rummages through your brain*

Hmmn. Not sure which you will know about or not, but:

- why the Hello! Project is such a success
- the attraction of unusual voices (ie kana, speena)
- analysis of an album (why it works/doesn't work, what mood it conveys, how it feels compared to the artist's other works, etc)
- why international fans divide Jpop into rock and pop divisions, is it justified?
- reoccuring symbolism for different artists (Klaha = angels/wings, Hyde = flying/feathers/wings or sea, OLIVIA = sea, etc)

I have more, except I'm supposed to be studying, so I should go do that. >.>

I have no clue what the Hello! Project is, although I am sure that I've heard of that before ...

But, I really like the analysis of an album idea. I actually had a dream about that last night >.>

*pounces on you because you are with the good ideas*

The Hello! Project is responsible for such artists as Morning Musume, Mini Moni, Country Musume, etc, etc, as well as soloists like Aya Matsuura, Aya Ueto, etc, etc. Basically all the girls-having-fun type groups.

XD

:O *is pounced* >.> *goes back to studying*
