I saw two parents who had their little girl with them. She was two, maybe, at the oldest. They were encouraging her to jump into all the puddles. They were even finding the big ones for her, and saying things like "here, love, here's a nice one" and "big splash, big splash!"

In my opinion? These are amazing parents. A child needs to play and be loved. This shows hints of both.

Those people have my own parenting style. It's rare, and often criticised. But I think the children are happier that way.

I think opinions are starting to change on that. This style of parenting fits in well with the "High Five" training I was given for how to deal with young children at camp.

I hope so, anyway. Because if I were ever to be a parent, I'd be right there in the puddle with the kid.
