gnutmeg: (pretty on the inside)
So, I'm going to be going to an orientation meeting for volunteering at the American Museum on the 7th. And I've agreed to do a meeting about Canada/Canadian Guiding with Justine's Brownie unit on the 2nd. (Justine would be the first Guider I met here and who I've been doing the most sort of Guiding things with. We still haven't gone out for that friendly coffee we've been chatting about, though.)

I'm also starting to seriously look at jobs again. The sign I'd seen at the Woolworth's seems to have come down again and there's nothing else around Moorland Rd. (the local shops), so I guess I should start looking in town. And print off more CVs. That might help the process.

Oh, and sorry to anyone who tried to poke me past 3am my time last night. I fell asleep sometime there abouts with my computer on/no away message/etc. Oops!
gnutmeg: (freedom)
I know I just posted, but Becca utterly amuses me:

Becca: oh! you know what i learned the other day? Global warming is the result of fewer pirates in the world:
Becca: http://www.cafepress.com/venganza/3704496
nutmeg: that does make sense
Becca: i agree!
nutmeg: our new mission, should we dare to accept it, is to increase the world pirate population!
Becca: i accept! You know how much i adore pirate coats! And cutlasses are pretty cool
nutmeg: I'm a fan of the rum, myself
Becca: yes, the rum is very important
nutmeg: where would we be without it? Probably all still in Europe, that's where!
Becca: you know, you may be right. What reason would we have to emigrate to the Americas?
nutmeg: chocolate?
Becca: yes, that is true. The spanish used it as currency, you know. So did the mayans. The english and french used to dump the 'worthless' cacao beans off captured ships.

[a little later...]
Becca: yes. the mayans ... human sacrifice vs chocolate as currency ... and i am forced to conclude that they weren't a bad bunch
